Visit Montrichard castle and its museums<\/h2>\n\n

While the history of Montrichard Fortress<\/strong> began in the XII\u1d49 century with the famous Amboise family, and its square keep, it was in the XV\u1d49 century that King Louis XI had the idea of building a whole complex of vast royal dwellings. Just below it, a church had already survived: the Eglise Sainte-Croix. This was the place where the king chose to marry his eldest daughter: Anne to Pierre de Beaujeau and Jeanne de France to Louis D’Orl\u00e9ans, later to become Louis XII. <\/p>\n\n

Since the Ch\u00e2teau de Montrichard<\/strong> was classified as a Historic Monument in 1877, the site now comprises two museums<\/strong>. The first, the archaeological museum<\/strong> of the “Friends of Ren\u00e9 Galloux”<\/em>, is an invitation to travel through 6 rooms exhibiting key moments in our shared history. Paleontology, prehistory, Molinology, the Gallo-Roman and Merovingian eras will all have no secrets for you. <\/p>\n\n

Another museum, another theme, that of the ” <\/em>friends of Old Montrichard<\/em><\/a> “.<\/em> It’s dedicated to ethnology<\/strong> and the atmosphere of the 1900s<\/strong>, with its old objects, wax statues and handicrafts.
